Welcome!

The Shiawassee Humane Society (SHS) warmly welcomes and thanks you for wanting to volunteer. You play an essential role in improving the lives of the animals in our care. Volunteers help with cleaning, feeding, exercising, grooming, socializing, fostering, photographing, promoting animals for adoption and other key tasks. Your work will directly support SHS's mission!

The program's mission is to enhance the lives of pets and their people by providing needed resources to keep them happy, healthy, and safe. Our goal is to enhance every animals' stay, increase adoptions, and promote responsible pet ownership.

Volunteering can be challenging, but is highly rewarding, offering the chance to directly impact animals' well-being, save lives, and strengthen community responsibility toward pets. SHS values each volunteer's time, commitment, and compassion, recognizing them as an essential part of the shelter's daily operations and long-term success.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work independently; those who are under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and both must complete applications.
